Establishing good dental habits throughout early childhood is crucial in order to ensure a lifetime of good oral health. This is why children should be taught the importance of brushing and the correct way to floss early on.
Teaching children to brush properly can be an exhausting undertaking, though, so we’ve found something that might help!
Children are drawn to smartphones and tablets, which is why it’s good that they can be used to help them learn.
Below is a list of the top five free apps we’ve found that can help encourage your child to brush. Check them out!
1. Disney Magic Timer
“90% of kids brush longer with the Disney Magic Timer app,” according to Oral-B. Kids can choose from different Disney characters to brush with (such as Mikey Mouse), with the image of the character becoming clearer the longer the child brushes their teeth. Along with that, upbeat music plays while a Mickey-shaped timer counts down the minutes for brushing. This app is available for use with Crest or Oral-B Pro-Health Stages products.
2. My Bright Smile
Colgate designed five educational and interactive dental games geared towards kids to instill correct dental hygiene habits.
3. Brusheez—The Little Monsters Toothbrush Timer
This application aims to help teach teeth brushing and proper oral hygiene. The customizable character is unique to your child and makes the teeth brushing experience more relatable to children. The avatar will brush their teeth along with your child as a timer runs down.
4. Happy Touch App
Brushing a toddler’s teeth can be a real challenge. This app uses interactive animals to encourage healthy dental care by having the children care for their furry companion’s dental health. The company advertises this app as a way to encourage children to develop the skills of concentration, healthy living, and patience.
5. Brush Teeth With Momo
This app has a cool feature called Brush Momo Mode. When it’s time to brush your child’s teeth, they can look forward to brushing Momo’s teeth on the screen! In doing so, they’ll be awarded points which can be used to create an awesome wardrobe for Momo and make snacks for Momo.
