About Sedation Dentistry with our Dentist

The Benefits

Sedation Dentistry helps certain patients cope more comfortably with dental appointments.

Excellent for people who are scared, anxious or just don't like going to the dentist. Or if you have a severe gag response, suffer from very sensitive teeth, or want to have a lot of dental work done during a single appointment.

To plan the best treatment for you, we'll need to know about your current medical conditions and medications, along with any allergic reactions you've had to other medications.
Recovery is a Dream with Sedation Dentistry

When your treatment is complete you may be a bit wobbly, so your companion will take you home and stay with you until you're recovered. You'll be amazed at how much can be accomplished in such a seemingly short period of time, while you are totally relaxed, and completely comfortable. Best of all, the next day you will feel fantastic.

Hours Will Seem Like Minutes with Sedation Dentistry

Fortunately, sedation medications have an amnesic effect. That means you'll have very little, if any, memory of the sights, smells or sounds or your dentist office visit.

I'm nervous! What are the EXACT STEPS to the sedation process?

Step 1

Making your first appointment

This is difficult for many anxious people, so we make your visit as relaxing and as easy as possible.

Step 2

Welcoming visit

We gather information regarding your health and discuss with you your wants and desires. If you're comfortable, we'll take x-rays and look in your mouth. You will never be judged or embarrassed.

Step 3

Preparing for your sedation dentist visit

We'll give you a prescription for a sedative to take the night before your first appointment to guarantee a good night's sleep and to make sure you wake up relaxed.

Step 4

Arriving for Treatment

Your companion will take you home and stay with you until you're completely recovered from your sedation medication.

Step 5

Going home with your new smile

Your companion will take you home and stay with you until you're completely recovered from your sedation medication.

Step 6

The next day

Most patients felt no discomfort or residual effects from the sedation dental visit and you'll be thrilled with all the compliments you will get.

For many, Sedation is a good choice for anxiety-free dentistry.

Here is what to expect

First, You will take an oral medication at bedtime the night before your visit. We may ask you to abstain from all foods and liquids for 12 hours, because you will be taking additional oral medication when you arrive at Twin Dental. Because you will have taken the bedtime medication the night before, you will be groggy. You WILL need a friend or relative to bring you to your sedation dentistry appointment.

During the procedure, we'll constantly monitor your pulse, blood pressure, and oxygen levels to ensure your safety. You won't feel any pain or be aware of time passing during the procedure. You'll feel very relaxed and may even sleep, but you will respond easily to touch and our requests.
